Betty, the trout, is named after Betty Ann Cherry, the JV Currents project leader. Betty Ann is very familiar with the Juniata Valley because she grew up in Huntingdon and is very familiar with the Juniata River and valley. Betty Ann’s father was Juniata College’s president for 25 years. Betty Ann became a professor and taught European, medieval, and Greek history, as well as the philosophy of science at Juniata College. Her family, especially her two children, Chip and Ann, enjoyed exploring the beauty of the Juniata River. Very excited for the Currents website, Betty Ann looks forward to more children taking an interest in all that the Juniata Valley has to offer.
Raystown Lake flows into the Juniata River. Looking over the dam, Betty Ann discusses with students how it affected the people of the valley.
