The
Pennsylvania Governor’s Institute for Early Childhood
Educators is an intensive five-day residential program
that provides opportunities for early childhood educators from across
the state to join forces and work together to deepen understanding
of current scientific and action-based research, strengthen
teaching skills, and develop action plans to apply best practices
in their own classrooms.

Districts, schools, and agencies are encouraged to send
teams of 4 participants. Teams may include teachers or specialists
who work with children pre-k to grade 3, administrators, and special
educators. Throughout the week participants will:
- attend
daily large group keynote presentations
- observe
and debrief grade-level track demonstration lessons
- work in
grade-level track small groups to plan additional lessons
- meet in
small groups to share new learning, thoughts and ideas
- meet as
district teams to discuss new ideas and best practices
- create
an action plan to apply learning over the following
year
- network
with other early childhood educators
Participants will agree to help
build capacity in the Commonwealth by incorporating Institute learning
in their classroom practices, by welcoming other educators into
their classrooms and schools, and by sharing their knowledge and
expertise with teachers and administrators in their schools, districts,
and regions.
