April 29, 2008 - From the site director
Important final announcement: The state
tournament has always been run on the last Friday of college classes. We
will do this again next year BUT the academic schedule has changed such that
the tournament will, by necessity, be held one week later on Friday May 1,
2009. You may thus want to plan ahead relevant to this date.
April 24, 2008 - From the site director
All of us at Juniata want to wish every team the best of luck at the
Science Olympiad State Tournament. We look forward to hosting all the
coaches, participants, parents, and friends on our campus. The prediction
is for a good day weatherwise on Friday with only a 20% chance of rain.
Again, best of luck to all!

We WILL run the trial event, Pentathlon! A
coach has contacted us and graciously volunteered to run the event. It will
be held on Ellis Field and all participants should follow the rules and
guidelines outlined in the National Tournament website (www.soinc.org).
April 21, 2008 - From the event supervisor for Junkyard Challenge B and C
Impound for Junkyard Challenge B & C will be from 8:30 - 9:00 (construction materials boxes only,
tool boxes do not need to be impounded).
There is a scoring formula discrepancy between the state challenge verbiage and the state challenge score sheet. The verbiage is correct.
The State Challenge can be fully understood only in the context of the Core Event Rules which apply to all levels (regional, state, & national). They can be found at http://soinc.org/events/trial/Junkyard/contents.htm.
The event supervisor is actively soliciting questions and feedback to help get the bugs ironed out of this event (james.a.hasse@usa.dupont.com).
April 18, 2008 - From the site director
To all coaches; no one has agreed to supervise
the trial event, Pentathlon - B. If I don't receive a commitment from a
volunteer supervisor by Tuesday morning we will have to cancel the event.
Sorry!

April 7, 2008 - From the site director
To ALL coaches! Please talk with the network
administrator for your school district about any filter controlling email
messages sent to your school. We suspect that several of you have not
received messages sent from Juniata. Please have your administrator allow
any email with the ending .juniata.edu to "go through." This is especially
important to any coach that is also serving as an event supervisor. If you
have NOT received a "welcome coach" message from one of our student
directors please contact me at pauline@juniata.edu.
